However, there's some minor bugs that need to be fixed such as audiologs are very quiet (stereo works fine) and enemy sounds are out of place (enemy in front but rear speakers are active)
Other than that the surround creates a nice atmosphere ;)
but these are minor problems
Audio logs and incoming communitactions are really quiet, and some sounds in front of you also happen in the sides/rears making it really difficult to tell where enemies actually are.
It drove me mad thinking I have my settings wrong on my amp or audio devices setup, but its just the game itself.
I tried the demo on PS4 Pro before the actual launch, and the 5.1 sounded fantastic.
@karhu, I don't mind a couple of glitches at launch time. What game is not a complete cluster ♥♥♥♥ on PC, at launch time, nowdays. So some sound glitches are acceptable.
EDIT: game purchased. thx all for replies. /me rushing for download :)
It does not, in fact support 5.1 whatsoever. The game is basically stereo. Bass redirected from left/right as most A/VR's do is not the same thing as a game having 5.1. Just pointing this out as an audiophile, musician who's worked in the sound industry for many years and who owns a very sophisticated sound system which I know how to configure in every way, including how sound is transmitted from my PC.
If the game was 5.1 it would be amazing, but still a good game. All I want is centre speaker voices, instead of the BOOMING voices that sound like they're inside my head. Although that's rather ironic considering the premise of the game :)
I'm not a pro when it comes to audio transmitting tech. Maybe 5.1 takes it too far. i meant that sound in his game is spatial/ surround. When turning i can easily "follow" the digital audio source which seems to be "surround" for me. I dont know about the subwoofer track and if its really implemented in the game. Of course its not comparable with a dedicated soundtrack of Blurays in Dolby or DTS where a subwoofer track is perfectly placed.
I just wanted tio point out that my subwoofer went wild in this game (which i cant say for other titles) and it was highly welcome! :D
