Who is December Side Quest (SPOILERS)

I walked along the metal beam that leads you to Alex's escape pod. I enter it, it triggers a couple dialogs and then the game asks you to load from a save. What am i missing here? anyone compelte this?

Did you trigger the escape pod ending? From my point of view I believe it gives you small hints on what is really going on. But of course in the end it tells you to load your save file cuz I guess you die but it doesn't show you how.
