No sound in game but in the menu

I've tried every solution found on the internet so far but i can't get the in game sound to work. When i start the game the sound is fine in the videos and in the menus. But when the actual game loads the sound is gone. I mean no sound in game at all.
I've updated all my drivers - sound driver, ndivia driver, restartet the pc multiple times, checked game files via steam, tabbed out of the game and back. Nothing helped. I've got an on board Realtek sound chip.

Any ideas?

Same. I haven't gotten the new patch and I've uninstalled 5 times now. This is plain silly.

I've tried hours for getting audio in the game. Nothing helped. The solution was that apparently the PC version isn't able to use localized sound files for your language. The solution is not perfect because you have to play the game in english.

Fix:

So go to your steam library, right click Prey and go to properties. Than switch to Language tab and select English and press OK. Steam will now load a 200MB patch. After that you can start Prey and play it with full sound again but only in english. But that's ok and better as not to play at all.

then when you start the game the game will find the directx and install in to tis game files from windows.

No, it doesn't work with english, and it doesn't work with any other language.

You're wrong, the first is to install and the second to run but, what about specifying with the second one, where do I have to extract the files? Because it doesn't work at all saying that you have solved if you don't say exactly how.

Doesn't matter where you extract - these are the setup files. Extract to tmp map, run the setup and you can delete them.
