While playing its very distracting. The cursor appears without even alt tabbimg the game. It could be the steam overlay at fault. Ive only played mooncrash twice, and its happen both times.
Cant be bothered to ammend those file carlin mentioned, so time to restart, play and remember not to bring up the steam overlay.

It's still an issue.

This will never get fixed at this point.

Still an existing bug...

This bug happens simply due to a conflict with Prey and the Steam Overlay, which causes the mouse cursor to be stuck on screen if you tab out in game while the Steam Overlay is open.

To fix this ;
  1. Close/exit the game and go to your library.
  2. Right click on Prey, then click on Properties.
  3. Uncheck the box that says 'Enable the Steam Overlay in game'.
  4. Close the Properties window and launch the game.
If you wish to tab out while in game use the Alt+Tab keys or Ctrl+Alt+Delete and click on Task Manager. When you tab back into the game, there shouldn't be a cursor stuck on the screen.

Cheers. :pug:

Found the solution, same as in Kingdom Come Deliverance. Unplug and reinsert your mouse. Lame, but it works.

@Kleiner Panzerbefehlswagen Did you try the same USB port? I think it has to be the same USB port in order to work. Otherwise try a different one.

I found the reason for me and it might help others:

Point 1: Nvidia Experience overlay triggered when i first started the game and completely deadlocked my mouse, i had to open the Task Manager to be able to do anything.

Point 2: I had the mouse plus crosshair issue described.

Point 3: I restarted the game, Nvidia Experience Overlay triggered again, this time i pressed "No" when it asked me to capture gameplay or whatever.

Point 4: The Problem is gone.

Point 5: I can alt-tab without any problem now.

Conclusion:
Because the first issue had the Nvidia Overlay activate and deadlocking my mouse (not only ingame but completely) indicates that its a related issue. Somehow that Overlay was affecting my mouse.
Getting rid of the overlay fixed the issue and i can alt-tab without any problem, strengthens this assumption further.
I have not used Steam Overlay and had no interaction with it.
It was only Nvidia Experience Overlay that was problematic (and often is for several games and i cant tell why some games cause it to appear while others arent).

Potentially its all Overlays causing the issue, for me it was the Nvidia one as it automatically appeared.

That happened for me when the Nvidia Overlay started being silly. Only when starting up Mooncrash when the overlay is enabled. The 'ya wanna use highlights?' kept flashing on and off the screen, turned unresponsive and after alt tabbing in i had control again BUT with that double cursor action.

Common factor: an overlay.

^exactly how my first startup went.
Task Manager, it works afterwars just by opening the TM, quitting the game, disable the overlay, profit.

The only solution I found is to quit the game and restart it; super annoying because of all the unskippable start-up screens this game has.

Go to your Prey\GameSDK\Videos folder and rename the following files

ArkaneLogoAnim_Redux_1080p2997_ST-16LUFS.bk2
Bethesda_logo_anim_white.bk2
LegalScreens.bk2
Ryzen_Bumper.bk2

for instance by appending .bak or whatever you want.
I know I'm 5 years late, but you are literally a lifesaver. Thanks for listing them.

This issue is still not fixed, just had it today and came to look for a solution.
Quiet disappointing I must say.
