If you´re aiming for constant 60fps i would recommend at least a
gtx 1070 (rx 580)
5th gen. i5
8 gig ram (better go for 16 tbh)
even on mid to low settings.
Or just wait until 2-3 months after release and hope that the devs will optimize their game post release.
Yup, did this dude just say low to mid with a gtx 1070?!! WTF is he talking about, haha.....don't make me laugh. At what resolution lol? 5k?
CPU Skt 1156, Intel i7 870, 2,93Ghz, clocked to 3.89Ghz
RAM 16 GB 1552Ghz.
GPU Nvidia ASUS Geforce GTX 1070 Stryx 8Gb OC
Anyway I'm aiming for an upgrade soon enough.
I have never bought any AMD card. Since 1996 that iam pc gamer and pc user i only have nvidia. But for cpus through 21 years i have owned both amd and intel(my previous cpu was core i5 2500k). There is no realy need to change the graphics card because my 970 still run all games at max settings 1440p with more than 30 fps except bad ports like deus ex mankind divided. Evrything else runs pefectly fine 1440p maxed even if it is not 60 fps all the time. I will change the card when we have cards that can run 8k resolution with 16k textures because a card like this will have almost real life graphics quality. Until such a card releases i dont see any need to change . If i get 1080ti now then games will run at 4k with 4k textures 60 fps while now i run at 1440p max settings 30+ fps and with 2,5k+ textures, But graphics are amazingeven now. 4K max settings not much of a difference compared to 1440p max settings. Iam saying it because i have tested both 1440p and 4k monitors on pc shops on the high enc pc's that they have there running the latest games for people to test them. They had my monitor DELLP2416D and also some 4k monitors running latest games on high end pc' maxed 60 fps and i didnt notice much of a difference betwen 1440p and 4k and since on June 2016 that i bought this monitor we dint have Ryzen and 1080 ti i thought that getting 4k was not worth it as i would had been forced to use it on 1440p until i upgrade. That why i beleive waiting at least for 8k resolution 16k textures 60 fps max settings cards is the best thing to do.
If you want constant 60 fps it´s unfortunately true.
GTX 1070 struggles to keep 60 fps while driving in Mafia 3 (mid settings, using i7 6700k) in 1080p which is not the GPU´s fault. It´s the bad optimization these days. Considering early leaks the PC port of Prey is even worse.
Constant 60fps in 1080p with a GPU lower than GTX 1070 will be impossible regardless of your settings. Sounds tough but that´s my prediction.
I hope that I´m wrong but I´ll get back to u guys after release to remind u about your statements.

I am playing all new games with my r9 390 on ultra without problems (didn't play mafia 3).
Also about "It´s the bad optimization these days." - this is not bad optimization, stop talking out of your arseholes when clearly have no idea about what optimization is and how game and general software development works.
But, the game is still fully playable. It's not a hitching, stuttering 50s... it's still smooth enough to play.
And, really, I don't see what Mafia III has to do with anything here. Different engine, publisher and developer... different everything.
With PREY, I'm not expecting to jump in at max settings at 1440p and have 120+ FPS. If I can find a good balance of settings at 1080p and hold 60fps, I'll be happy.
