MODS for Prey now available!
Hi Yus,

I have begun releasing packs of mods for Prey on Nexus. So far I have a Hardcore Mod pack that makes the game much more of a survival game (brought back Traumas and limited fabricator licenses, adds new junk/food, etc) and an Immersion Mod pack that can disable various immersion breaking aspects (can remove glowing items, alert indicators over enemies heads, remove music cues when aliens are close, etc).

This are all pretty "MOD"ular (bad pun intended) and you can pick and choose the bits you want to use in your games.

I'm assuming you heard of the unique "Disc Rifle" found within the games' files that is considered sentient, but otherwise...

Do you think you could create a mod that places it somewhere in Talos 1, with upgrades available for it or with a blueprint to it?

Kind of. I was the guy that found it :D

I could if we could get it to work, but alas all of our experiments have failed so far. There are just too many critical files missing for it. Having said that some of the quest still exists (can get a shotgun to play the opening dialog "Wave Emitter Online" in a robotic voice when you pick it up) so there always exists that maybe the quest can be hijacked for an existing weapon - for example a sentient Q-Beam. That's pretty heavy modding though so no idea if/when it could be done.

Added a few optional files to both mods (increased Typhon health for hardcore as an option and removing weapon reticles / hit markers / directional damage indicators as options for the immersion mod)

is there a mod that makes the game easier? I'm already playing on easy difficulty, but im still having trouble because of the limited resources and the game just is not fun for me.

And here I am sitting with 100+ of mineral, synthetic and organic material with 3000 disruptor batteries and 300 shotgun rounds on Nightmare mode. I feel most people on this board are either using ammo improperly or not exploring enough.

Not planning on making an easier mode TBH because there are many ways to beat the game (mod your weapons up, take almost any power to Tier III, etc). Mostly focusing on making the game more difficult and a New Game+ type of mod that switches things around.

However I will be uploading a cheat mod that lets you start with a very large amount of resources, medkits and neuromods for those people that just want to mess around so I suppose that may fit the bill (there were loads of people that glitched materials and kept a save file just for that kind of thing and I had people ask me to put the glitch back in :P)

Why would anyone get banned and by what system?? This is a single player game with no required protection service.

May I suggest a very simple feature for the immersion mod?
A simple key bind (maybe toggle) for slow walking with a keyboard and not be forced to always run.

I really wish we had a mod support or a map editor.
Imagine all the custom maps and mods that could be built.

Don't suppose there was any scrapped code for working mirrors in there? That always bothers me.
