UI is awful
As per usual bethesda makes what looks like an interesting game but makes the ui, control and interaction cumbersom I'm really struggling getting into this game. You'd think I'd learn then do this every time I never check who the publishers are before I buy from now on I will. If it's bethesda or gearbox ill give it a miss.

What's wrong with it? I thought it was far better than most console games and PC games of the last few years.

The UI is actually great. One of the best, cleanest UI's I''ve seen in a while.

Only UI issues I've had are with awfull hacking mini-game. Other than that It's been great. Weapons assignable, Rt click for powers.
Not sure what else they could do.

Inventory needs to be fixed so as it autostacks properly.

It works fine.
Given the "looks like" comment I am guessing you didn't actually play the game but chose to whine about it anyway.

well its way better then the horrible skyrim IU, which was quite clealry made for console, at least the UI in prey does look like a PC UI, I have no problems with it, and pretty easy to navigate.

Your right they only fired the whole developement team working on Prey 2 so that they could redirect how the game was being made and how it played including a redesign of just about everything in the game to suit how they wanted it including the ui. You can go watch/read the articles pcgn did on Prey 2 their research includes extensive interviews with original dev team from HH. Then again since your commenting i'm sure you must have already.

I don't believe the UI as a whole should be given a harsh treatment as it's pretty neatly done in a lot of areas, including but not limited to the quest-log, the inventory and the onscreen displays.

I do believe, however, that there are areas of the UI that can be singled out as not perfectly done, like the weapons wheel and the talent tree layout - remember, it's about how it looks and how easily you can navigate it, not how balanced or strong the talents or weapons themselves are!

But the things I don't like can easily be attributed to the console-y nature of the game - and I've gotten used to bad menus from games released for all systems over the last decade or so, as a menu that is handled with a controller has to feel clunky for the user of a mouse.

I don't feel Prey standing out in any way; the same console logic applies in my opinion.

Real talk the only thing I hate about the UI is how items don't stack properly.

Already have 13x typhon organs, grab 2 more, I have a 13x stack and two different 1x stacks. Come on.

I'm on my third run and didn't even stop to think once about not getting the inventory upgrades every time, can't be bothered to mico-manage those organs every 90 seconds.

Upgrading inventory is an upgrade I would never even consider taking if the stacking was done well, but as it stands it's the only way to hold on to what little is left of my sanity. And we are three patches in, mind you, so there goes the hope for a change.

I did get all the inventory upgrades, still ran into the problem quite often.

Yeah, the bug notwithstanding you feel forced into getting the inventory upgrades or spend two of your then twelve hours playtime sorting organs.

Not a single soul, not even Arkane themselves, will disagree with us here when we claim that is not the optimal way to go about things.

There are a couple things in the UI that feel a bit awkward. This is best seen in the inventory. Hovering over an item gives you one menu (use, move, drop), right clicking gives you a different menu (dismantle, favorite, etc), and for some reason the two never shall meet. Adding the hover options into the right-click menu I think would easily resolve this.
Beyond that, I can't think of any design decisions in the UI that are bad. There are some bugs/oversights (item stacking bug, various hard-coded bindings, the fact that you can't access your psi skills without the favorite wheel), but none of those are "an intentional decision was made to create this behavior".

Would be great if OP actually mentioned what parts of the UI they think are awful. Based on what we have so far, it just sounds like "This isn't Prey 2 and I hate Bethesda"

Again you have no no idea because you are a dumbass, THEY WERE FIRED BECAUSE BETHESDA DID NOT LIKE THE DIRECTION OF THE GAME.

Arkane designed the new game which is a spirutal sucsessor to system shock and plays like system shock!!!!!!! bethesda didn't design ♥♥♥♥ in this game
