Technopaths
IS there any viable way to take out the technopaths without using nullwave transmitter followed by Q-beam (preferably with power upgraded)

When i say technopaths i mean the really bit floating ones which generate an electric grenade which you have a few seconds to run/cover from, one of them gaurds the main lift, they seam to disable Q-beam attacks as well.

The shotgun (which i believe is the most powerfull weapon after Q-beam) does trivial damage
Direct hits with gas canisters does trivial damage
I have not tried psi blasts yet (havent upgraded thoes)

The stun gun can stun lock them completely and give them substantial damage as well. Put 2 or 3 upgrades in its damage and a couple in shot number and if you've got more upgrade kits handy a couple in range too and it'll be awesome against them - they'll be completely helpless.

This will also take out corrupt operators in one or 2 shots. It's a great gun and then saves you on regular ammo as the stun gun batteries are plentiful :)

Q-Beam is so damn risky. Takes way too long for enemies to die, especially the ones that matter like Technopaths, Telepaths and Nightmares. Shotgun and Disruptor are 2 weapons that should never leave your side. Like the poster above me said, a Disruptor can indefinitely disable a Technopath while also doing +100 damage per shot.

Electrostatic Burst III followed by Kinetic Blast III then either follow up with Psychoshock or hit it with a few bullets from your Golden Gun.

Q-beam works wonders against things with huge amounts of health as long as you know you will survive long enough. The main problem is you cant move much when using it.
Only technopaths a nighmares take anything more thna a brief few seconds to kill.

Dont use it on nightmares/technopaths if other threats are arround.
Dont use it on any lesser enemy if other threats are activly attacking you.

if using on a technopath use a nullwave grenade first

Disrupter Gun. That's it. Currently on my 4th playthrough on Nightmare. Disrupter was the first to maximize. Anything but the galvano-type can be completly stun-locked. Technopath goes down in 4 shots.

Disruptor Gun with fully upgraded with points put into security weapon skill, combat trance/bullet time for even more damage will kill a technopath in 3-4 shots, especially if you sneak up on it while in max skill bullet time, can kill it in 3 shots before it can spot you.

Sadly you meet your first tecnopath long before you have the points to put those skill points into the necessary skills to make them easy.

My first technopath encounter was after learning that they turn your own turrets against you (duh) like that: disrupter gun > wrench the panicked poor thing > disrupter gun > wrench > disrupter > wrench and loot his innards.

But the easiest way (by far) is to psychoshock any advanced typhon and just unload your shotgun into their face. (or save ammo and wrench techno and telepath)

+1 on the stun gun being the key against technopaths. I used to sneak attack them with the stun gun first, then shotgun them point blank until they are dead. You may also want to drop an EMP on them beforehand to take out any turrets they may keep close by.

EMP to take out any turrets it may have picked up, stealth stun it with the disrupter for massive damage, and then shotgun it between stuns at best.

As everyone's said, disruptor is the best hard counter weapon..

But like everything else in the game, combat focus + anything will wreck technopaths, so long as your weapon damage is upgraded at all.

By about a third of the way into the game, you can just combat focus, run directly at anything in the game, and spam pistol/shotgun/Disruptor/Wrench and come out the other side barely scratched, and down maybe 2 ammo fabrications if you feel like splurging.

That's playing on nightmare, I can only imagine how easy things are on lower difficulties.

i thought it was both robot and typhon
so both EMP and nullwave shoudl work
