Can't run Limbo due to missing DirectX

I tried running Limbo today, it gave me an error message that it can't find DirectX, and that it needs at least DirectX9 to run. I have DirectX11. What gives?

Since then I concluded that it's probably a fault in the computer, as I got the same error with other games as well, while others simply didn't start. I'm trying to fix it.

Maybe OS dont support or hardware. Windows 8 has many incompatibilities with previous versions of the software. Specify your hardware and OS, please

It's a laptop with Windows 7, but I used to be able to play Limbo on it. I even played it through and unlocked almost all achievements. I don't know hardware specifications from the top off my head, I'll post them when I'll be around the laptop (I'm posting from my PC now).

This is one of the first results i got when my game suddenly stopped working after a few days of play, not helpful... If you're on Window10 check out https://www.dosgamers.com/directx-9-windows-10, the last step on "How do you enable Direct Play?" is what solved it for me.
