Won't move at the beginning

So I just bought this game, and I've been stuck on the same screen at the start. When the character is still lying down on the ground, well they don't get up. I've left the game running in the background to see whether I was just too impatient, but I have 20 minutes of gameplay without even playing a second. Anybody had the same problem?

Changed window setting, but still nothing.

Are you using the arrow keys to navigate?
I only say because I sat waiting for a couple mins trying to use w,s,a,d keys at the start.

yep, that was the problem. also for some reason i had to repeatedly pause the game with esc then resume before anything moved.
