I run a 2x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, Intel Core i7-6700K, 32 GB RAM, etc. and I had to download the memory patch in order for the game to work.
Unfortunately, compatability issues with newer hardware and older games is strange – some specific rigs can run certain older games while others will have issues.
I recommend trying out the demo version you can download on steam. If you can run that, you will be able to run the full game. If you cannot run the demo without encountering graphical issues, you will most likely need the custom memory patch.
