Mansions of Madness

Free?
Is this a free Lovecraft-inspired pc boardgame that I can play with my friends? I don't really get why people keep calling it an 'app' since all PC games on steam would be or is this a mobile only thing? Can I play this as a standalone pc boardgame like in the screenshots without the physical boardgame all the reviews are talking about?

If its a free boardgame then thats pretty awesome, but they say nothing's free so I'm just checking. I know I am being lazy for not just downloading it now and trying it out but this will probably be useful info for anyone else as clueless and lazy as me :demoticon:

In 2011 Fantasy Flight Games released a board game: Mansions of Madness.
Now in 2016 they're releasing Mansions of Madness the Second Edition. In order to play the Second Edition, you'll need this app to play (it's also availabla on iOS en Android as of tomorrow when the board game releases). So actually.... No... This isn't a completely free digital version of the physical board game.
But I would gladly pay for a digital Mansions of Madness to play over the internet with others!

Seconded. And Arkham Horror too, FFG, while we're at it!!! ;)

You guy's know you can already play them online right ?
Get Tabletop simulator $19.99 on Steam and download Arham Horror, Eldrith Horror and Mansions of madness and many more from Workshop.

But i do agree a official version from FFG would be awesome.

Yeah, I know there's a mod for tabletop. Was interested in it, but.... Like you said: official would be awesome!

I'd like to think that this will be a stepping stone to an eventual full blown Mansions of Madness RPG game for PC, with single and multiplayer options. Its ripe sort of game to be a DLC hog... new scenarios, new investigators, new locations(outside the mansion, Miskatonic University anyone?)
