Mansions of Madness

Mansions of Madness

Pyromania Clariification
We were playing "Cult of Sentinel Hill" and I drew the "Pyromania" insane card. It says "You do not win the game as normal. At the start of your turn, if 6 or more rooms contain fire, you immediately win the game. If the game ends for any other reason, you lose the game." Problem is, I have no idea what to consider a "room", especially since this entire mission is moslty outside.

Reference Guide, Page 15: "A room is a group of spaces separated from other rooms by walls, doors, yellow borders, yellow impassable borders, or the edges of map tiles. - Each room has a single name that refers to the spaces in the room as a group. - Each room is either indoor or outdoor and each space within a room shares this quality."

--- (You just have to be wary of tiles with multiple rooms - yes, these do exist. But once you've seen some of them, they are not that hard to spot.)

So, each tile is a "room" then? If that's the case, I should have won!

Technically, yes. (At the very least; though, as I said before, one tile could contain multiple rooms.) - And I do remember there were quite a lot of different tiles, so I would imagine it couldn't be that hard to set fire to 6 rooms on this map, unless the other players are actively trying to get rid of it.

It was an outdoor map, with five total indoor rooms. I figure tiles themselves counted, but no one else agreed

They were right. The tiles don't count, just the room space. 'If 6 rooms' not '6 tiles within rooms'.

I think this might be a slight misunderstanding, if not confusing in general. ^^ - When I say tile, I mean "map" tile, as in, the whole thing. There are not tiles within a tile, rules-based.

[Although this doesn't have anything do to with the condition of the card.]

If a tile is completrely outside, and there's a fire in that tile, does that count as a "room" for the card condition?

No, your friends were correct. A hallway that spans more than one tile is still the same room. In the same way that the outdoor tiles can create a big garden or forest that is still the same "room".

Just because you drew the Pyromania card, doesn't mean the game has to assure there's a good chance of victory for you. Not all maps are created equal, and you could just as easily have drawn a different card. In order to win, you'd have had to light fires inside sheds, and whatever else was available, as the "outdoor" area is one big room for the purposes of the game.
