In preparation for the Demo on the 10th, I'm going to start trying to do this on a weekly basis to make sure any updates are logged!

Demo Update - 31/07/26

Build 0.0.9 - Version 14

Exploration

The "default" world item for items without 3D Representation has been replaced with a sack.
New barks have been added!
Spellcasters will request a rest if they have no spell slots.

Combat

It is now possible to fail running from combat - there is currently just a flat %, but I intend to make this more interesting in the future.
If you fail to run, the next combat round will automatically begin.
If you are successful then you will return to exploration
Backstab now correctly shows an infinite* range
The camera now reverts back to the standard position when all enemies are destroyed.
Weapons or attacks that target multiple enemies should now focus all selected enemies rather than just the selected target.
Ranged enemies can now attack your back row - Look after your wizards!
Feedback added and timing for when a thief hides in the shadows during combat.
removed the feedback popup when an enemy fails to resist a spell, the fact that it works should be feedback enough.
Added some additional feedback to blinded enemies.
Spells or abilities that dont do damage no longer display a damage readout during target selection

Spells

Done some work on Light to make it more impactful

Loot

Updated loot tables for enemies in the demo, you should no longer get weapons and armour from bats, for example.

Resting / Camping

Resting has been updated to work correctly. A spellcaster must rest for at least 8 hours to recover spells
It is now possible to get an encounter during resting while in a dungeon

Audio

Fixed an issue with the audio sliders - Audio volumes should now be modifiable and work as expected

Controller

You should now be able to change the language on the frontend on controller
It should no longer be possible to get in a weird selection state on the frontend when returning to it on controller
Fixed the cursor offset, the pivot point should now match the visuals of the cursor.

Localisation

Added some missing strings for resting and barks

I've changed XP displays on characters to be based on their current level and the requirement to get to their next level. I'm unsure on this so might change it around . Previously it would show the total currently acquired XP.

Bugs

Fixed an issue with placement ghosts hanging around
Fixed an issue where you could move around while the end of demo splash screen was visible
Fixed a bug where if a character dies while defending in combat, their state doesn't reset.

Feedback after my first playthrough - I really wanted to replay!

After I beat the final boss. I hadn’t full explored the dungeon and I wanted to replay straight away. I closed the game to give myself sometime to think about the game and after that I went straight back into it for a 2nd playthrough. After my first playthrough I had one dead party member. The other party members were alive. The fire horn made all battles trivial so the next playthrough I won’t use it to experience the battles as intended. I really like the UI. Two Events Down... Demo Next!

Hi all,

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind!

I had the opportunity to showcase Crypts of Carith at two fantastic events: WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Berlin and Develop:Brighton, where I was exhibiting as part of Brilliant Indie Treasures.

It was brilliant meeting so many other developers, publishers, and players, and hearing everyone's thoughts on the game. Every event teaches me something new, and it's incredibly encouraging to see people enjoying the game, and embracing the slower, tactical pace of adventure.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by to play, chat, or simply show an interest in the game. Your feedback and encouragement genuinely help.

With both events now behind me, my focus shifts entirely to the next major milestone...

The Chapel Cellar Demo.

I'm aiming to release it in early August, and it's exciting to finally be this close to getting it into your hands.

There's still plenty of polishing to do, it will never be perfect, but the time is now!

Path To The Chapel Cellar Demo - Part 5

Hi all,

Today I'm sharing the fifth and final part of my Path To The Chapel Cellar Demo playthrough.

This final section sees the party venture deeper into the dungeon, carefully navigate a series of spike traps, and eventually confront the Rat Catcher in the demo's closing encounter.

Putting this series together has been a great way to share the progress of Crypts of Carith as I continue working towards releasing the Chapel Cellar Demo.

There's still lots of polishing and balancing to do, but it's exciting to finally have a complete slice of the game that showcases exploration, combat, character progression, puzzles, and party management all working together.

You may have noticed the updated capsule art on Steam. This mammoth piece of artwork was created by Pedro Morán, the incredible artist behind the character portraits,

It will be used across all store fronts, including the console version as it has been created with a great amount of flexibility.

Thank you to everyone who's watched the playthrough series and shared feedback along the way.

The next step is getting the demo ready for the end of July!
