I know you didn't ask about this but you should note that the armor won't normally import into Awakening when you import your character (or start a new character in Awakening). You will eventually acquire better armors in Awakening though.
However there is a mod that will enable this armor and all other DLC to import into Awakening: http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/mods/874/?
The Witcher armors are my favourate. They look awesome and the stats are kick ass aswell. The armors aren't too op tho so it's quite ok to use them. They can also be used in Awakening.
I can't speak for everyone else, but I like to play vanilla. Not a big mod fan.
I played through the game 3 times without any mods. Then modded the ♥♥♥♥ out of this game and it's better with mods tbh. Leliana is damn ugly without the mods and Morrigan can be better with mods too...and Sten. + modded armors and weapons do look better imo. They don't have to be overpowered.
But i know mods are not for everybody. It's just that after couple of playthrough every game gets boring for me unless i can get additional content and that's where mods come in...but that's just me. Some people can finish games several times without modding and if that's the way you like to roll then by all means go for it.
