key won't let me unlock door in urn of sacred ashes

i've been stuck on that door for days now and i tried to use a key to unlock the door, but it won't let me, is there something wrong?

The door in the temple after you fight the guardians? You dont need a key, you need to look/interact with the fire pit, a beam of light will ignite it and then the locked door opens.

Its not what i meant, i'm at the part after saving brother Genitivi, its where i had to find a key to the entrance, but when i try to use the key, it keeps telling me that the key is required even though i already have the key for the door

And you have the right key? The one you get from Father Eirik´s corpse?
He has a "ruined medallion" on him that contains the key.
If you convince Brother Genitivi to go back to Denerim he shows you how to get the key from it, if he accompanies you then he opens the temple door by himself.
Also dont you have any older save games to reload and retry? The game usually auto saves pretty regularly.

It didn’t auto save and I tried to go back to my previous save, but it kept me out of the room and I did get the ruined medallion to work perfectly fine, the main issue is the other door to the other room when you get the key in a chest, I played this game and beaten it before and currently playing it over again as tyrion Lannister from Game Of Thrones as a dwarf noble.

I’m just gonna go back to where I helped Genitivi and see if this works. I’ll send an update to see if it worked or not. It’s strange that the door wouldn’t open even though I had the right key for it.

It still won't let me use the key, so i have no idea what else to do, i tried to verify cache, but it still wouldn't work. i'm trapped in the ruined temple

After looking up some discussions about that part it appears there are TWO keys you can find at that part. One in a chest and the other on a enemy after killing them.
Maybe you missed some enemy or loot somewhere and that is the key you need?

okay, i finally found the key, it was in one of the chests from the hallway door and i finally got the main hall door to open. thanks.
