Console - Cannot execute function
I am trying to use the console on Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition. I got the mod that makes the console visible.

However, no matter what command I type into the console, I get the same error message:

Cannot Execute Function

I have checked that I have typed in the correct command every time. I've tried multiple commands, nothing works.

you can only use the list of RUNSCRIPT commands mate, so are these what you are using?

E.G runscript zz_money 9999999

that whole line will result in Success writing under neath console and evidently your money going up...

Hey there, I know this is terribly late but just want to put it out there for those running into the same problem, like I did:

Make sure to check if there isn't a ` in front of runscript, pressing backspace once or twice after you enter console helps.

Im having this same problem, i tried using E.G runscript zz_money X but i gained no money, and it said Cannot Execute Function
hmm, all i can say is 1) did you have the character you wanted the money for selected? 2) if you did and it didn't work, go to nexus mods and find the console enabler mod and use that to do it.

I don't really understand why the consoles are so buggy in this game, seem to work for some, and not for others.

I did both of these, though im not sure what you mean by select. To "select" the character i assume you mean go to that characters inventory page, yes? and im already using the console enabler mod
If they are selected the will have a gold ring around themselves and the character.

If you're unable to get the console commands to work, then 1) you're adding an amount that is TOO HIGH, or 2) you need to update your game version with the manual patches and try again.

Btw FYI in regards to the money cheat, if you enter higher than about 250 g at once it usually has a fit. I tried it before and it sent me to - 899999 gold and i couldn't get it back up, i had to reload a previous save and try it again.

How do i update my game version?
First you'll need your games version number which is located on the main menu screen of the game itself. Secondly, google that version number and you will either find that it's the current version, OR, that there is a patch (whether official or community supplied) available.

If that doesn't work, all i can really suggest is that you backup your saves safely, then completely delete and then reinstall the game.

Other than that, i'm truly sorry but i haven't got a clue. :/

The following solved/fixed it for me.

Start the command with a space before typing "runscript". E.g. " runscript removetalent 8".
