New DAO player question (mouse, movement, etc)
All other games I've played, I just use the mouse to point the direction I want to look and press the W key to move. For DAO, seems like I have to HOLD down the R-mouse + W key to accomplish the same thing. I've played well over 100 games. This is the FIRST time I've seen this. Am I missing it somewhere?

Thanks for your thoughts.

This is actually pretty standard control scheme for this type of game. Its a tactical RPG that utilizes the mouse cursor for many functions(mainly issuing orders and selecting targets), and toggling wasn't something the devs felt was very necessary for the type of gameplay they aimed at.

Theres a couple of other options though. You could rebind the pan camera functions to another key. The other is holding down M1+M2, this makes your character move and allows you to rotate the camera without needing to hold down W.

I tried searching to see if someone ever made a mod to do what you want, but I couldnt find anything.

To reconfirm, yeah it's actually pretty standard for this type of game it might take some getting used to, but since it's a tactical game aiming and motor control aren't important so it's ok if you are a little slow with the controls.

It's so standard the devs changed it in Dragon Age Inquisitions, come on. What it's annoying. Something easy to fix in an update. But who would expect that from a current Dev? Exactly.

Why do you necro a thread from 2014?

There are mods (script with AHK) that make walk/run key (default: W) for movement forward into a toggle, so there is not really a need to change how things work in DAO today. In Tactical camera mode you can point on ground to walk where you want to go and combine both mouse button to walk forward by holding them down at same time.

If you move cursor to corner/edge of games window you will also move map view.

This game where designed to fit within that times limitation for hardware, so I am pretty sure that there will be no patch which make this game more unstable then it is already due to x32 limit for addressing memory (RAM + VM).
