I didn't hate Isabela's personality but I did hate her as a romance option and I could never forgive her for selfishly stealing the qunari bible and throwing all of Kirkwall into chaos and not telling anybody about it FOR YEARS - like how many people died because of that?
That is a horrible thing to do to someone, but Fenris is a horrible person. He's a killer. At least as a slave he won't be on his ridiculous revenge path killing half the world. If enslaving someone saves lives then is it so morally bad?
They went for a Sasuke style woobie, probs for the fangirls. The problem is Sasuke isn't a good character either but at least he's one of the better portrayals of an angsty, brooding guy with a dark past. I would feel sorry for Fenris if he wasn't killing people left right and centre, and moaning about how ALL mages are evil which is clearly not true.
Other than his dark past, was there anything remotely likeable or sympathetic about his character? He was simply unpleasant.
That was my problem with DA2's characters: I wouldn't take half of them on my epic fantasy adventure. Isabela, Aveline, Fenris, Anders, even Sebastian would all get left behind.
