DA Updater
So Steam didnt install the DA updater when I bought the game. I know why, seeing as Steam updates the game itself for you. But I want to install a couple of mods for Dragon Age: Origins, so I kind of need it. I cant fid where to download it online, or find a secure site to do so. Can you not get it while using a Steam copy of it? If I can will someone please instruct me how to get it, or give me a link. Or tell me of another way to install mods for Dragon Age. I know how to add them Ive been using mods since Daggerfall (for you Elder Scrolls fans). But I cant seem to find another way to do it. Also the current file zipper/unzipper I have is Winrar for what its worth, I figured I would add that piece of information in case I need a different file opener for mods. I also typically go to Dragon Age Nexus, in this case Im looking to get the extra dog slot follower mod. Any help, suggestions, or advice is apperciated! Thanks in advance, cheers!

Yeah Ive been there looked, not there. Steam doesnt auto install it for you, primarily because Steam auto-updates the game for you anyway, they didnt take into consideration the installastion of mods though.

Dragon age nexus has a mod manager that you can download that will install any mod overrides and even DAupdater mods and most major mods support it i think.

Well, You can register your Dragon age copy on origin and download the game from there, it will install the game with the daupdater.

DAUpdater always acted quite buggy to me, and nowadays there are usermade mod managers that works much better. Personally I suggest using DAModder: http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/286/?

I would not use the so called built in DAO updater, however if you have signed in to Origin the updater is there or Origin would not recognize the game. That being said, I also do not recommend the Nexus Installer, even though I have mods on Nexus and I use other mods myself. Most mods including the extra dog slot can be installed manually, however if you want an installer I recommend DAO-Modmanager by Altorian. Modmanager will also help with MOR files, like Realistic bodies for example if you plan to go that far with your mods anyway. Hope this helps..

You can drop it anywhere, as long as you can find it easily. Each time you wish to install a mod you need to start DAModder.exe. That will open a windo where you can simply drag and drop the mod files and it should install it for you.

I suspect you mean winrar or winzip to open ,zip and .rar files?
Winrar can be downloaded from here:
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Winzip can be downloaded from here:
http://www.winzip.com/win/en/landing/prodpagewz.html

Either one can be used; you dont need both.

Just to clarify, if you do download a file that ends with ".dazip", then it is already ready to install. No need to unrar it, just drag and drop the file into DAmodder.

If you are feeling unsure, here is a video I found:
