Circle of Magi Side Quest glitches

Upon buying the ultimate edition for pc, i was excited to play the game since i had already played the vanilla on xbox 360 and enjoyed it a lot. So i decided to create a character in the vanilla game and go through all the new content before proceeding on to awakening. One of the first things that i do in the game is go to the circle of magi to get that quest out of the way and also to secure help for the arl's son at redcliffe. Now, the main quest for the area is fine. However, when i enter the room after meeting Wynne (the one that contains the quest "Summoning Sciences") there are no summoning circles on the ground, i can't activate the font or any quest items such as the Phalactery. I was pretty annoyed at first, then i thought that it was alright because that quest doesn't usually bear many fruits anyhow. So i proceeded throught the tower until i came to the room to activate the statues in order to awaken the demon at the start of the tower to gain the all important two handed weapon that he drops. Again, no option to use the statues what so ever. I was pretty annoyed at this point, but couldn't do anything about it. So i went on and found out that 5 pages, 4 mages doesn't work either. This is really frustrating me, i want to gain as much xp as i can as well as loot. And i think that these side quests are essential to keeping the tower interesting to play through. I would greatly apprectiate any help and advice on how to fix this irritating glitch. (ps, the quests don't appear in my journel either.)
