Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

4gb patch
Hey! my rig is rtx 3060, ryzen 9 9900x and 32gb ram but my game is crashing after creating a char.
After installing 4gb patch it fixed but as I start my game through different DAO exe file, steam wont show me that i'm in the game and steam overlay isn't working.
I tried to add this exe file as NonSteamGame and laucnh through steam but crashing is still there.
So working only if I myself start the game through this 4gb origins exe file.
Is there any way to play with 4gb patch and make steam see that's im in game?

Yes you are bypassing the launcher, you dont even need Steam running. Thats the same way I played it recently. I was pullin out hair trying to get it to run through launcher to no avail so just made a shortcut to the .exe and put it on my desktop

There is a way to launch a different exe from Steam. The technique should work for any game (I did it with another game, not this one). It involves technical knowledge of Windows, so not recommended if you don't understand the steps.

If you are familiar with using Windows CMD.exe, you can do these steps:
1) copy c:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe to "c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition"
2) browse to "c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition"
3) rename DAOriginsLauncher.exe to DAOriginsLauncher[ORIGINAL].exe
4) rename cmd.exe to DAOriginsLauncher.exe
5) Go to Steam -> Library -> DA Origins -> Properties...
6) Set General: Launch Options: /c "c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\bin_ship\DAOrigins.exe"
7) Now, when you use the Steam launch button, it will launch DAOrigins.exe instead of DAOriginsLauncher.exe. It will track your playtime, but I haven't checked if the Steam overlay works.

If you have a different version of the game (not Ultimate Edition), just use your correct game folder. If you want to launch a different exe (not DAOrigins.exe), just use the correct path to that exe in the launch options.

If for some reason it does not work, just reverse all the steps to restore to the previous state.
