What happened to the Fade

I installed and replayed this game after a couple of years. But this time, when I went into the Fade at the Mage's tower, it took me straight to the companion's dreams and skipped the fade. Why did it do that? Did the latest update do away with those mazes, or is the game files corrupted, or and old Mod still on the hard drive screw it up?

You probably still have the "skip the fade" mod active somehow.
