Game crashes as soon as I finish character creation
I just bought a new hp omen gaming laptop and I downloaded Dragon Age Origins which is one of my favorite older games and have been unable to proceed past character creation . I'm pretty certain all the specs are good enough to run without problem because I can play it on cloud gaming and the computer can run higher quality games like starfield or spider man remastered without problem. Dragon age starts to work just fine with the opening credits and cutscene and the character creation menus but as soon as I go to start actually playing it crashes on the loading screen without any kind of error code. I don't have any idea what could be causing this and I'm pretty frustrated because this is a brand new laptop. It seems like it should have no problem running this kind of game. However I will confess i'm a little out of my depth when it comes to troubleshooting because I only recently switched to windows from mac so I don't really know how to even begin to diagnose what could be the problem. Any advice anyone could give me would be super appreciated.

I'm having the exact same problem. Recently I downloaded The Lord of the Rings (from website not Steam) and was having issues besides game shutting down after hitting start, but now i'm having the same problem with the game. I'm curious to know what is causing these games to shut down after hitting start. I suppose when a company starts selling games at $5.00 might be a red flag, just not sure. I'm hoping anyone that cares to share there knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried the LAA patch? The game has a memory leak problem and the patch helps reduce the crashes.
