Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Physx error...??
Just bought and installed DA Origins Ultimate Edition, but when I launch it is says "Error Initializing PhysX. Please visit blabla for updated drivers".
Now I've always up to date (also because this game is pretty old) and my Nvidia Drivers are the 335.23 on my GTX 770.

Anyone with the same issue that know how to fix the problem? I don't want to download old drivers just to make DA works..

Thx!

Go to this page:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.13.1220-driver.html Download and install it. If you have the same version, uninstall whatever you have and install this one.

Let us know if it works.

Edit: Just to let you know, there is also a new Beta version driver available for your card.

Hi Prentice!

Thanks it worked perfectly! :))

I thought to already have the latest version (when Nvidia updates the GPU drivers they do not update the Physx?) but it wasn't.

So problem solved, thx again!

You are welcome, glad to help ;)

I think you are right that Nvidia doesn't update Physx when updating drivers. Unfortunately I cannot confirm it myself at the moment because I do not have any Nvidia products with me.

Have you restarted your computer after you have installed Physx ?

I see that your problem is solved but I'll throw in my two bits - had this problem with DA:O, Mass Effect 3 and a few other games, but the problem I had was that my PhysX was too NEW and not working with the relatively older games (no idea why)
Solution to my problem was to install legacy PhysX drivers, also available directly from nVidia.
This way I can have both older and newest PhysX drivers and it won't negatively affect any games!

After seeing 'install this {legacy}driver' forum threads, this one worked for me.

Thank you basedgods

This is a very old thread. If you are having problems with PhysX you were supposed go to the pinned guide How to Fix Dragon Age: Origins; everything is explained in detail there.

I just reinstalled DA:O (after finishing DA:I recently), and this same PhysX error came up for me. On doing a quick Google search, this thread (not the referenced "pinned guide") was the FIRST to come up in a Google search for the solution. I used your recommendations and it fixed the problem. I would wager that most people go through the same process as I did.

Why reprimand someone who is thanking you for fixing their problem? By the way (at the risk of being scolded) thanks for fixing mine, too.

OTR

I was just having this issue for some reason and this advice helped exactly as advertised. Thank you.

I know I'm late coming to the game but I'm very irritated that I can't play it. I bought it during Christmas sales of 2016. At that time, I thought I couldn't play it because my graphics card didn't support that version of PhysX so I set it aside. I recently upgraded my video card only to finally realize that the problem is that my drivers are too new. I tried installing the legacy PhysX drivers as mentioned above but that didn't work for me. I guess this is a game that will continue to collect electronic dust in my Steam library since I'll never be able to play it

I'm in the same boat with GOG. Trying to find solution now.

Ok...fixed it. Do this (assuming you have the latest win10 NVIDIA driver installed):

1. search for appwiz.cpl in the search bar lower left of Win10

2. Scroll down to find 'NVIDIA PhysX (Legacy)'

3. Right click on the line and select 'repair'

4. Now, the missing files will be found in your NVIDIA 'common' folder.

5. Copy PhysXLoader.dll and PhysXLoader64.dll

6. Go into your DOA installation folder and open the bin_ship folder and paste them in

7. Reboot launcher and hit start...see if it works for you.
