But don't you have to bind it to a key somehow or something, and enable it?

Check out the wiki for that

It's complicated, but I got it to work

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\data\
Open the DAOriginsLauncher.xml (can usually right-click and click edit and it will open in notepad)
Find the line

<condition name="FirstRunCheck" type="FileExist" file="${USERDATA_DIR}\SystemInformation.xml">

The line below should be something like this:

<true action="execute" file="${BINARIES_DIR}\DAOrigins.exe" path="${BINARIES_DIR}" autoquit="true" />

add arguments="-enabledeveloperconsole" to it make it read

<true action="execute" file="${BINARIES_DIR}\DAOrigins.exe" path="${BINARIES_DIR}" arguments="-enabledeveloperconsole;" autoquit="true" />

Save your changes
Go to \My Documents\\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings\
Open KeyBindings.ini
Find the line that starts OpenConsole_0=
Change the value after the = sign to the key you want to use to open the console.
For example: Keyboard::Button_Tilde to use the tilde key (above tab and to the left of 1, though you may have issues if you have a non US-International keyboard layout, you can always use one of the unused function keys, I use F7)
Use this mod[dragonage.nexusmods.com] to make the console visible (optional, if you don't use the mod though you can still use the console but you will be unable to see what you type)

This works perfect!!

Just make yourself a backup first before you try this! It has to be perfectly typed like in the example or your game won't open

Don't follow KapteinKapsel's advice. It may have worked for him but he didn't properly explain it so it won't work.

I just created a shortcut with -EnableDeveloperConsole added to the end of the developer console.

Hi! So followed Krixius' instructions; it worked, YAY! However, I cannot seem to get rid of the command key and because it won't go away, I can't resume. Any tip?

Thanks for any help - R.V.

If I remember correctly, for me the button that opened it, closed it again. I do remember having slight issues with the Tilde key, which is why I opted to use F7 instead.

Just type in some gibberish non-command and hit enter. It doesn't let you simply close the console.

That's a great idea but... I cudn't even start my game because the command was still up. I'll try that after I started the game.

Okay! I'll try that.

FINALLY FIGURED OUT Y COMMAND BAR WAS NOT GOING AWAY!

Follow every step Krixius instructs + add the nexus mod IF you want to see the command. This is the only one that worked for me.

Anyway, once game is open and you start typing your commands; give it a about 3 seconds and you'll notice the bar fades away. (Haha! Fade.) If you do not type anything on the bar, it won't go away AND you cannot proceed the game. Like, you can't move or anything until the command bar is gone.

Hope this helps and makes sense; took me 4 hours to figure out the bar just needed to fade. :steamfacepalm: - R.V.
