It could be just a coincidence or the memory leak, as detailed below:
This sounds like the known memory leak that was never corrected with the patches and the only way to solve it in the past was to completely close down the game and then re-launch it. Disabling persistent gore only buys you half an hour's play without problems at best and is just delaying the inevitable unfortunately.

I'll let you know, but it could take a while, i'm a bit stuck on a part in the mages tower, my not so awesome gamingskills cant handle it ;)
