Find CD Key
I gave away a copy of this game to my friend. However, she runs Mac and cannot use the Steam Client. We are currently trying to find the CD key so she can get it on Origin.

However, we cannot find it and she cannot install it. Any ideas?

How did you give away your copy ?

Did you just send the key to her like via e-mail for example ?

No, I bought the copy for her. Turned out she has Mac and cannot use the Steam version. As such, we need the key to activate on Origin but she does not seem to be able to find the key.

I asked it because if you have bought it on Steam, you can either buy it for yourself which will automatically bind it to your account or you can buy it as a Steam gift.

If you have bought it as a Steam gift and sent it to her through Steam, she should still have the game in her inventory.

... Yes, and she does. But since she has a mac, she cannot play the steam version. As such, we need to find the CD key and activate it on Origin, however we cannot find the CD Key, leading to the original question above.

never tried anything like that but as much as i know about cd keys i doubt a key generated for a steam game would activate on origin... plus the key is already activated on your steam account.

and your key should be the 5th up from the bottom on the right side of your page under "Links" when looking in your library

Yes, but it is not there.

Both Steam and Origin have confirmed that their Steam keys work to activate on Origin, a method for Origin to bring people to that platform.

i've heard that sometimes it has to do with reigon settings but beyond that i don't know why the selection isn't there. i've personally never had that problem outside of preorders but that's because you don't get the key until launch. try searching the internet for a fix or contacting steam support but that could take a long time for a response unfortunately. wish i could be of better help :/ good luck

cd-key would be to right in a list when you select dragon age.

the key is in your library on the right pane if you select DAO from the list on the left.

If you had read the thread thus far, you would have noticed that the issue is that it has not shown up there.

Does she not see the game in her Library at all ?
Lundqvist Jun 22, 2014 @ 7:33am
She can see her game in the Library but she cannot find the CD Key.

Did she right click on the game and choose Properties, go to DLC tab and see the key there ?
Lundqvist Jun 22, 2014 @ 7:45am
No, but I can ask her to try that!

Also if it is not there, she can probably find it by right clicking on the game in her Library and choosing View CD Key.

That should normally let her see her keys.

If that doesn't work, make sure her Steam is updated and try again and contact Steam support.
