Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Game crashing to desktop when trying to use the World Map.
So the crashes I'm having aren't random, it is only happening when I try to use the world wide map. I seem to be able to reload the game and try again (as long as it's before that point, if it's not the game just crashes again), and it tends to work. But making sure I save every time I go to travel somewhere in the game will get a little annoying. Is this common/known? I haven't been able to find anything on this specific type of crash. Really hoping there is a way to fix this.

Oh and I'm not using any mods. Just the Ultimate Edition as is.

Make sure that your game files have not been damaged. It might be worth doing that with cleaned cache.

  • Exit Steam and go to Steam folder. Remove folder named appcache.
  • Close your computer. Let it actually shut down for a while.
  • Start your computer and Steam. Steam will now load a few seconds, while creating a new appcache folder for you.
  • Steam client Library view, right click the game.
  • Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache...

1 file may fail to validate. It is related to how Steam detects your graphic card configurations and does not have any negative effect to your game.

Thanks so much, so far this has helped. Will repost if that changes!

Something which may help as well if you get Freezes /crashes in some of the more intense battles.
Go back to a previous save before any battles, in game settings untick autosave and reduce graphics settings to the lowest. Then try again.
This helped me get through or past the sloth Demon which crashed for me several times before I found this technique to help.
