unofficial updates and patches: are these necessary?

hi everyone.

i did a litle bit of research and read quite often, that its almost mandatory to have the fanmade patch/update installed.
my questions would be:

1.) is there a specific website where i can find this patch and which is trusted?
2.) are there other important pacthes/updates/things i should do, so the game runs smoothly?

Nexus mods for all DAO mods.

I have 74 mods and patches installed in my non steam version of the game. They do make a huge difference. look on you tube, for Best or most needed mods and how to install them on DAO. There are some good videos and some of them even give full instructions on how to install the mods.

This game doesn't really need mods tbh. The mods that you do need are essentially to make the game work on your computer. That could be the 4k UI mod, and the 4gb patch. qwinn's fix pack is the best unofficial patch mod, and you can try combat tactics for combat bug fixes and tweaks. Otherwise a first playthrough should be as vanilla as possible, its not a Bethesda game where you must have mods to enjoy the game.

I'd get the exe fixes, otherwise it crashed a lot for me. Thereá also an unofficial patch on nexus that you should probably get.

at the bare minimum - this. It stopped the game from random crashing. Everything else is up to you
