Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Best builds
I thought it would be fun to discuss what we may think are the best builds for each class are in this game.

Currently playing a duel-wielding casteless dwarf rogue. I've gone duelist and assassin for my subclasses. I've been specializing in poisons that have a chance to stun (deathroot extracts) and ENCHANTMENT that help paralyze enemies as well. I only use daggers for the auto-attack because they're so fast, especially with momentum.

I'm effectively a dodge tank at higher levels dealing insane amounts of damage.

Talent priority at level up is coup-de-grace, lethality, riposte and momentum. Only need up to level 3 for the skill tree to get the tier 3 combat abilities since rogues have so many rogue talents that don't require it.

Anyone want to discuss their favorite builds?

Fireball and firestorm. That is all. Friendly fire matters not, as they make great kindling. If you want to be spicy you could also throw in mind blast to stun and run

lol, true.

Then there is the spell combo that creates the ultimate storm.

Storm of the century is an awesome combo spell.

I like Arcane Warrior. Glyph combo to open and then go for the stun from mind blast on whatever made it out of the glyph combo. Not much else needed.

Nice!

Two-handed warrior is my favorite tank. It's so much better in active skill use than shield, and threat management is simpler than Arcane Warrior.

Dual Wield is always fun, whether it's DEX/CUN rogue with daggers or STR warrior with axes. Having the Dual Striking fix installed, I prefer it to backstabbing. You can add juicy on-hit bonuses like Song of Courage, Tainted Blade, and Flaming Weapons, so doubling your attack rate gives major returns, while those effects don't get multiplied by backstab/crit. You can have your cake and eat it too by throwing Death Hex on major enemies.

In Awakening you can get the best of all worlds by adding Beyond the Veil or Strength of Stone/Endure Hardship to a Dual Wield build. Also pretty easy to stack 100% dodge and/or spell resistance with a good amount of armor.

I think I agree with your choice, as it's the most fun and engaging build of them all. BUT, I still prefer healer for some reason. Yes, I know it's boring, and we have Wynne, but the healer class is my favorite class in video games, and I always love to create tactics for the party so that they can do things on their own, and I just stand there supporting them with my magic. Just seems right to me. :CutePaw:

In Awakening I had a fun combo. Keeper spec. You become completely immobile while you plant roots but anyone who comes close to you gets caught and takes constant nature damage.

Add in Arcane Warrior and enemies die getting to you and you just don't die when they do, all the while wiping them out with your spells.

Blood mage should be mentioned. Most powerfull spells in the game and overall a blast to play.

Keeper is interesting, but you can still be knocked back, dragging the entire thorn field with you. Funny as that may be, I do wish you didn't move when literally rooted to the spot.

It's great against the Mother and all the tentacles. Just get relatively close, set the roots and any of her tentacles that come out of the ground start taking damage immediately.

Draw the enemies to a doorway, just stand behind it and to the side so they have to come to you, a glyph of repulsion in the door way and anyone who approaches gets caught in the thorns, gets knocked back and has to go through the thorns again or if they get close to you they should be close to death as well.

Yeah the Mother was one situation where I was keen to use it, though she surprised me by dropping a Glyph of Neutralization. Would need to hit her with something similar to prevent that.

Arcane warrior, dexterity rogue and blood mage are the best and OP builds.

Heavy cunning rogues have MASSIVE damage output as well.

I know and cunning rogues have much bigger DPS output but dex rogues are almost impossible to hit with 100 defense. My favourite party is three mages(with a protagonist mage) + Leliana. Or Leliana, Morrigan, Wynne and dex rogue protagonist.
