Gifts still in inventory?

Hello guys without spoilers, how do gifts work? I give to a specified character but remain in my inventory taking a slot

in camp, open the inventory, press the arrows until you select the person you want to receive the gift, use the gift. it should disappear, unless in one case at least, it becomes a weapon unique to that character.

I did it but it's still in my inventory, for example Alistair doll has been in my inventory for atleast 10 hrs, I already gave it to Morrigan but it's still there

Drag it into Morrigan's hotbar, go some place safe with her and Al, make her use it, laugh at the silliness, sell it back to the dwarf, and wonder why they decided to ruin the interesting relationship mechanic with a stupid gimmick.

You can also just destroy it, Thats what i did after i used the gifts

You can use those gift to have a cutscene if you gift it to correct character. I only barely remember it does trigger unique dialogue if you gift all unique gift for that character. I dont remember if you need to have this gift or not in your inventory to trigger it, probably not.

theres a mod called gift guide, its shown after gifts name for whos and bacomes easier to track, some gifts are special to your companions, they re triggerring cutscene and gives you extra friendship point
