I can get the face back to normal by exiting, changing texture/graphics to the lowest settings and loading the game again, though I will need to crank those settings up again after loading, otherwise I find that my game crashes again after going through a couple of doors.
Not prepared to say that the problem is entirely solved yet considering this is just the start but I am making progress, I will post updates on how it goes.
Also if you are finding this happening to you, note that in some cases you'll have to enter and stay with these high settings in areas that could cause crashes. For example I tried City Elf and while the first scene was fine, exiting the door causes an instant crash, and the only way to walk around that open area without any crashes was to have my settings up high.
In case the issue is on the Ea side of the game launcher. After that reboot computer and attempt to launch from EA app.
