Should I bother with Awakening?
After playing the main campaign from start to finish, apparently taking 40 hours, I am pretty sick of the gameplay of DAO. I cannot stand much more of it, and the intrigue I felt is pretty much all gone.
Is it worth suffering through 10, 15 or 25 more hours of stale, boring gameplay for the story, or should I just move on?
I get that the story carries over to Inquisition and DA2, but even so...
On another note, is DA2 worth playing? I've heard some mixed things, and while I own Inquisition I don't own DA2.
As far as I can tell, none of the instakill mods (e.g. Skip Fight) work in Awakening, so I can't even ignore the tedium, it is bad enough that I am sick of using the damn console to make everything go away. The Deep Roads made me want to just delete the game entirely.

I like DA2. DA2 was a big shift in gameplay mechanics from DA1, so a lot of people didn't like the shift, thats where the hate came from. I like it.

Personally, I enjoyed Awakening. However, it is not necessary for the main game. It is just an add on and, if you are really as tired and sic of the game as you say, then why would you even consider playing it? It sounds like you have no interest in it and, since it has nothing to do with the main game, I guess I'm not understanding why you're asking about it.

I heard DA2 had a weaker story or something?
I am asking for opinions to see if the story and content is strong enough to be worth it or not.
Also, is playing DA2 absolutely required to play DAI?

Awakening No, its worse then main game and if you hated main game which is best of all dragon ages then ya...

DA2 umm with above said and its notorious lesser quality and your big hate of DAO umm no can't see you liking it, it has terrific companions (in every way but gameplay in which they downgraded like not being able to change anything but their weapons and find upgrade tokens basically for their suit)

You can skip DA2 and play DAi 0 issue, and due to its different gameplay style maybe you will like.

Ah, thanks mate. I'll maybe watch a summary/synopsis of the stuff in between DAO and DAi and/or use Dragon Age Keep? Only just learned of it, might be handy

Ya dragon age keep good enough, and can choose choices pretty easy in it.
But all you really need to know is the ending (the war and why it happens).

Always to each their own, enjoy what you do and good luck.

ps.
You also could watch Dragon Age movie if want and didn't know of it (100% uneeded to point it was basically written off in DAI, but decent and introduces some stuff including a main character in inquisition)

I'd say that Awakening is important lore-wise and a prequel to DA2, so either watch it online or play it at the easiest difficulty just to go through it, it won't be long at all that way, maybe 10 or less hours.

Last but not least you could skip Golem DLC entirely as it's not a "story" expansion, but you may want to do Witch Hunt as it has a place in the whole picture, it's super short anyway, like 2 hours short.

As for DA2 is a pretty rushed game and it shows, but if you liked Origins it may still be worth a run IMO.

Yeah, I will admit that DA2 is definitely the weakest in the trilogy, but it is still fun. The story is fun for me, but like I said earlier, they completely changed the combat mechanics from DAO and they also kept the story mainly isolated to one city instead of an entire country like DAO, so it could be seen as a downgrade, but it is still worth checking out at least.

No, Awakening will totaly ruin your experience. It is very very very bad. Avoid it at all cost. Im the best RPG player on the world, beleive me.

I think you should play it, specially if you like mages. You get more spells, more gold (there is also a glitch in the dialogue when you are under the city), the ability to rearrange the points in whatever character the way you want, therefore easier battles, and the whole darkspawn scenario makes sense. I had less hard time playing Awakening.
