Alienage hospice/apartment crashes

I've been stuck at the alienage for months now -- upon leaving the hospice or apartments, the game crashes, and I've tried every possible fix, between LAA, single core use, reduced graphics and no autosaving.

I've been using Improved Atmosphere and a number of other mods, but I've downloaded a fix for the former with the mesh fix for the Apostate clothing, as well as deleted IA's 2.1 folder for all areas.

Is there any possible solution at this point, or would I have no choice but to restart from the beginning?

Have you tried removing all mods as well?

If you load up another save somewhere 1st and then load your save in the Alienage it should work. It almost always works for me to load up 1 safe save without many npcs and then load up your current save.

If you don't have a safe save, then you can start a new character and then load up your current game from there.

I know this was posted almost a year ago, but I was having this problem too. After getting past Lothering I really didn't have any problems with the game crashing until the Alienage. I crashed when I went to leave the apartments, but then it just wouldn't load any part of the Alienage. I tried a number of things, but what seemed to fix it was going to an earlier save and switching out one of my party members. I had Alistair, Morrigan, and Leliana (as a ranger that would call a bear right away.) I changed Leliana for Shale and had no more issues. Hope this can help someone in the future.
