Hi everyone,
I'm having difficulties beating the last bunch of darkspawn in the southeast of Korcari Wilds. I've beaten all other enemies and am at the highest level possible at this point, I believe. Only once I was close to beating them. All other times there were 5 of them left before I died. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and the degree of difficulty is only at normal.
I've set the tactics so that the party members heal themselves when at 50% health. The other 2 tactics available I set to use their abilities.
I've seen a walkthrough on Youtube where the party members do 25-30 or so damage per hit. I do something like 15-20 and don't know where the difference comes from. There's not a lot of gear I can afford at this point.
Any advice? I'm sure I'm missing something and just haven't got the hang of things, but I just can't find the answer. Many thanks!

I'm doing better overall now. Approaching the end of the Deep Roads. The last couple times I died was more because of carelessness. However, multiple enemy mages are still a pain in the ass. And the Jabba the Hut looking boss in the Deep Roads I needed several attempts for, because one of my characters always died quickly.

@Federicocap: main character is a rogue elf, dual weapon. At the moment Ranger specialization, I find the summoned creatures very helpful. Main party is with Alistair (Champion), Leliana (Ranger) and Wynne (Spirit Healer).
I'm wondering if I need any more cunning with the main character (25 at the moment), now that I have Leliana to steal, disarm traps and open chests.
About pausing: I do it, but not for every move. I'm at 60+ hours now, if I had paused even for every other move I'd probably be close to 80h and there still is quite a bit to play. It is a bit annoying, though, that neither "move freely" nor "hold position" are good options. With the first sometimes they don't engage in battle, with the latter they often make good targets for areal spells. So I do see the necessity for at least some manual orders.

It all comes down to sitting down, examining all skills etc. figuring out the best combos and order of actions. I struggle with it and appreciate everyone's help here! :-)
And some gear decisions are tricky. Currently I'm brooding over:
Duncan's dagger vs. Topsider's Honor
damage 6.0 vs. 11.2
crit chance 4.5% vs. 3.2%
armor pen. 7.0 vs. 4.0
strength mod. 0.85 vs. 1.0
+4 dexterity vs. +20% sprit res.
+10% crit/backstab dam. vs. +6 dam. vs. undead
+10 dam. vs. dragons vs. (nothing)
2 rune slots vs. 3 rune slots

Seems to me the 3rd slot gives Topsider's the edge, but I'm curious to hear what you guys think. Thanks again!

If you have a rogue, it is recomended to build an extremelly high cunning for critics, and teach you wizard those two frost spells, so you can make frozen enemies explode. it helps a ton, specially cone of cold.
