Some sort of finagling has to be done with the chargen XML file, but someone else will have to help with that, or you'll have to do your own research. It's beyond what I've learned so far.
Hope this at least gives some beginning clarity!
Quick EDIT: Basically, the game only recognizes one character creation mod at a time. But something can be done with that XML file to make it notice additional mods. Or something alone those lines.
Modding is nothing new to me, but for some reason I'm still tiptoeing through the process this time around.
Your suggestion worked brilliantly, using the CharGenMorph Compiler I had fixed the issue and everything is working fine. As for modding this game, don't worry too much, just be sure to read the installation description in case you need to install them in a certain order. I know for the DragonAgeRedesigned mod, you need to install a particular portion of it before anything else, and you need other mods such as PT Vibrant Colors to make it work correctly. Get DAModder to make your life easy and things will go fine. Though I recommend using as few mods as possible your first playthrough to experience it as it was intended. I played it quite a few times on the PS3, and this is one of my favorite games; otherwise I wouldn't be playing it all over again on Steam.
Oh, and I'm definitely staying mod-lite for my first runthrough.
All I'm using right now are some cosmetic things - namely a hair mod and Neutral Female Armor, to make medium and heavy armor look more like the male version - and Lock Bash, for sanity's sake.
In my mod browsing, I've noticed a variety of mods "fixing" dialogue throughout the game, especially romance-related. Would you say those are worth keeping an eye on for future playthroughs, and consider any dialogue issues part of a pure "first-experience?"
Also, um, sorry if I'm getting a bit confusing or wordy. Casual communication isn't exactly one of my stronger areas.
And on the subject of communication, I didn't have any dialogue complaints for my playthroughs. I've heard that some dialogue was cut, so something that would be interesting to consider would be to play through without them first, then play through with the extra dialogue to see if you notice any differences. Consider it a directors cut rerelease if you're into that. I might look into that myself and try it.
Pardon slow replies if there's a need for any, I'm writing an essay right now.
Good luck with the essay!
