Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Starting first save, Do I select "Origins" or "Awakening" when prompted for New Game?
I got the Ultimate Edition which came with the Awakening DLC and a bunch of other content additions apparently, and I have never actually played any of the game as of yet.

When I clicked "new game" it prompted a decision of "Dragon Age Origins" or "Dragon Age Awakening" and that's basically what I'm here to ask about.

Do I just start an Awakening save and assume that's the same game with the DLC content included, or do I start the Origins save and do Awakening later? What's the difference between these specifically?

It seems kind of obvious I guess that awakening is probably the same game with the new additions included, but I guess I'm just reluctant when it comes to any decisions like this that impact a hundred plus hour save im about to start if it's not absolutely clearly stated somewhere what the two options actually are.

So yeah, any help would be appreciated, and also any input you guys think a noob would need to know before getting started as well lol. Thanks.

PS: How much do the starting character options matter? Human / Elf / Dwarf and the 3 classes etc? I guess I'll google that a bit but seems a fitting side question to toss in concerning a new save =P

origins first ,that is the main game. awakenings after. doing so will let you use your player character from orgins into awakenings since it is a dlc. that is if your choices in main game allows your player character to live :).

to answer your questions about races. they have different back stories and depending on your race the in game characters will respond to you according to the game lore and race tentions etc. class isnt all that much important to how they treat you unless you are a mage.

Hope this helps.

Interesting, this is why it always pays to ask instead of assuming I guess. When I originally clicked Awakening just to see, it sent me to character creation screen, so are you saying that if I just started awakening from the start, I would be level one trying to do some late game side quest that's too high level for me? how's that exactly work out?

you can play awakening with your player character in origins if she/he lives. dont want to spoil the story but dont worry, making the choice to live or die is obvious. if you start awakening on its own you will start with a orleasion commander that is a new character and you will be pretty confused on what other characters are talking about ( about the grey warden from orgiins main game)

awakenings is a DLC all simple purposes but they did give you the option to play it without playing the main game but it is not recommended. it is much better with your character from origins doing it.

as for the other dlcs i recommend doing witchhunt for last because it ties up the game ending better.

If you started Awakening now you'd have a level 18 character.

It's not "nobody". It's the Grey Warden from Origins.

then you misunderstood his question. which to start with. he was wanting to start with awakening (without playinbg origins first) and without a origins character that finished ORGINS game play he would of been stuck with a Orleasan commander.

If I start Origins, will Awakening become available later during my play (meaning, is it seamlessly integrated in Origins) OR is Awakening a separate play needing to be started from the main screen?
