the darkspawn one is a what if that takes place the same time as the climax to origins but id play the main game first. as for lilianas song it kind of spoils some of the early character bits so its up to you if want to play it before origins and have some character knowledge you otherwise wouldnt get at the start or play it after.
oh and the other campaigns are awakenenings the amgerack one and witch hunt.
Start with Origins. Then do Awakening - that's the major post-endgame DLC. Then I'd do Witch Hunt after that - it's another post-endgame but for a specific character. Those are the most important ones.
The rest you can do in any order you want, but I'd definitely wait until after the main game because they won't make much sense without context.
I agree
Leliana's Song can be played anytime, but I find it best if you exhaust her dialog at camp first, getting her to tell you why she left her town, and then playing it before doing her companion quest. This will give the maximum effect for story purposes. It doesn't really do much playing it first since you have no idea who the character is. Once you beat it, you get a pretty good light armor back in Origins, provided you completed the quest to find the armor pieces during Leliana's Song.
You shouldn't play Darkspawn Chronicles until after you've beaten Origins.
So does Darkspawn Chronicles take place lorewise after Origins, or after Awakening?
neither, its an alternate ending to origins
Ok thanks, all this DLC is really confusing all at once. Like Return to Ostland and WitchHunt, how do they fall into an Origins - Darkspawn Chronicles - Awakening order; or when should I play these other DLC's?
Witch hunt is the last event in the wardens story and return to ostagar fits in the main campaign like wardens keep does you can do it any time but it's best to bring Alister, and the spoilers comp when you do it because the followers who fought in the battle add content to it.
Wardens keep is best done early for the storage box but you can do it anytime in the main game.
Soldier's Peak, Golem in Honnleath, & Return to Ostagar.
Obviously, these DLCs won't be avaiable until after leaving Lothering. They can be done any time afterward, but most folks do them early to get Shale, Party Storage Chest, and unique armor sets at low-tier for lower strength requirement (Warden Commander & Cailan's). I usually wait until I have Wynne before going back to Ostagar.
The post-game DLCs (Leliana's Song, The Golems of Amgarrak, Witch Hunt, & Darkspawn Chronicles) can be started after the main campaign, but most wait until after Awakening.
Completing them will activate special equipment, added to any save and new games afterward.
