Hi ADEC Inc, this is ZDuke17, and I will provide an answer to your question.

DAO-Modmanager is capable of installing .dazip and.OVERRIDE file type mods. The tool use cases also include the creation in.OVERRIDE file types, DA_ini_config.xml creation, .override compatibility testing, and an Addins.xml checker/repairer. Such features that go beyond just installing mods have use cases for those who are modders themselves.

DAModder is capable of installing .dazip and .zip files. I recommend using only the .dazip installation features instead of also using .zip installation. Some mods don't work correctly using DAModder to install .zip files. Such files are usually to be extracted using some file extraction tool and then placed in specific locations of the game files.

In matters of which is the best to install mods, it generally depends. Some mods prefer being installed using DAO-Modmanager if.OVERRIDE or .dazip, some prefer DAModder instead of DAO-Modmanager if .dazip, some prefer manual installation when in .zip format, and some even prefer using DAUpdater.exe found in your game installation binship folder for .dazip installations. If there is a preference, it usually is mentioned on the mod's website, so be sure to keep a lookout.

The guide above may interest you if you have an interest in installing mods. If you'd like to request installation instructions for certain mods, feel free to let me know, and I will walk you through it step-by-step.

If in need of any further assistance, let me know, and I will reply as soon as I am able.

I switched to Vortex my last play through (through Nexus mod manager) and it worked great. It also did a lot of cleaning and sorting like have BOSS or some other cleaner working as well. It is not quite 1 stop shop for mod managing but it is closest I have used. I found you only needed a a real cleaner if you are heavily modded.

Hey, thanks. New to the game but not to modding in general, so for now I'm only interested in major bugfixes. What I've found so far is supposedly compatible but I may add more later.

It sounds as if DAO-Modder is possibly helpful in resolving conflicts? If so it may become necessary at some point.

Yeah, if you use NNM, They have Unofficial game patches, They solve a lot of problems, and they are a must even now. There is so many good mods for DAO on NMM. Reading what mods are compatible with witch will save you a lot of time as there is many mods that do the same thing, or building/landscape mods that take up the same game space.
