Either way, thanks for the answers.
Are you using the improved atmosphere mod, by any chance?
This is it, thanks.
Apparently in Improved Atmosphere mod he takes the gold too. He also changed the value that merchants give you for items so Gorim is no longer offering the double gold for items like he used to - though all merchants seem to be offering more than I would otherwise.
This is fairly disappointing to me as the main reason to play a Dwarf outside the superior first 45 minutes was the perk of Gorim giving double gold for all items. WIth this being gone there really is no reason to play a dwarf over any other race other than RP reasons.
I guess I could just turn off Improved Atmosphere, but truthfully, the mod adds a ton of really nice things to the game and it probably isn't worth turning off.
P.S. I just googled the items original worth and such and found that he significantly upped the value of many items in the game as well as lowering the value of buying certain items (In Vanilla Tomes cost 15g, in Improved Atmosphere they are only 8g). I assume he did this to make it easier to obtain the better gear in the game without having to pick and choose what you get. I guess it all works out in the end.
um...
