if you arent skipping through the conversation , try to wait a bit because sometimes in this game ( especially on low end systems) it takes it a min to register to open the door.
Eventually you will get through promise.
After I talk to Ser Gilmore? But he's not anywhere near the room. Only the main character's mother and the dog are with me. The only other people we encounter are Fergus's dead wife and son and some enemies. Where do I meet with Gilmore because I've checked every nook and cranny and every room. Also, I pretty much waited 30 minutes and the door wouldn't open.
No, he wasn't. Maybe it's a glitch. Idk, I ended up uninstalling the game. I didn't like the combat's aspect of auto attacking. I played DA2 and thought the combat would be the same, but it wasn't. Thanks for trying to help.
I'm having the same problem: http://www.ign.com/wikis/dragon-age-origins/File:Mapcastlecousland2.jpg getting past area 'C' on the map. Eleanor and my mabari are in the party, and the cutscene with Fergus' family played like normal, but the other 4 guards aren't there, and the doors leading to Landra's guest room and the rest of the castle won't open; I keep getting a 'Key Required' message.
Unsure if it's due to conflicting mods or not, because this is the first time I've ever had this problem. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I'm not having any luck. I'll do some more poking around, but if anyone has more information I would greatly appreciate it!

From the wiki, I beleive this is the bug you are describing.
