Bug in Castle Cousland Mission?
I started up DA today and played the first mission where you wake up to an attack. I was wondering how people got passed this because I cannot leave. Here is the map of the area: http://www.ign.com/wikis/dragon-age-origins/File:Mapcastlecousland2.jpg I cannot get past "C" through the exit.

The door you are supposed to leave out of opens up for everyone else in walkthroughs on YouTube, but it says "Right Click: Can't Unlock" for me and "Key Required." I've exhausted searching in every room and opening every chest, but I cannot find this supposed key. Any help would be appreciated!

i know what you are talking about. after you talk to sir gilmore the door opens. Sometimes if you try to skip through that conversation the trigger doesnt happen , so just save next time right before you talk to sir gilmore and dont skip through the coversation.

if you arent skipping through the conversation , try to wait a bit because sometimes in this game ( especially on low end systems) it takes it a min to register to open the door.

Eventually you will get through promise.

After I talk to Ser Gilmore? But he's not anywhere near the room. Only the main character's mother and the dog are with me. The only other people we encounter are Fergus's dead wife and son and some enemies. Where do I meet with Gilmore because I've checked every nook and cranny and every room. Also, I pretty much waited 30 minutes and the door wouldn't open.

He's in the main hall, where you start the game.

No, he wasn't. Maybe it's a glitch. Idk, I ended up uninstalling the game. I didn't like the combat's aspect of auto attacking. I played DA2 and thought the combat would be the same, but it wasn't. Thanks for trying to help.

Anyone have an insight into this? I'm running into this exact issue. I believe after you kill the 4 Howe soldiers, the mother was supposed to come out of the bedroom door but that is not happening.

I'm having the same problem: http://www.ign.com/wikis/dragon-age-origins/File:Mapcastlecousland2.jpg getting past area 'C' on the map. Eleanor and my mabari are in the party, and the cutscene with Fergus' family played like normal, but the other 4 guards aren't there, and the doors leading to Landra's guest room and the rest of the castle won't open; I keep getting a 'Key Required' message. :steamsad: The chest in my room has been emptied too, but the map is still registering it as an unfinished task.

Unsure if it's due to conflicting mods or not, because this is the first time I've ever had this problem. Has anyone else experienced something like this? I'm not having any luck. I'll do some more poking around, but if anyone has more information I would greatly appreciate it!

The northern door of the main hall may become stuck and prevent you from completing the quest. To avoid this, save just after The Cousland Treasury is initiated; make opening that northern door your first priority (after surviving the fights along the way, and before retrieving gear from the treasury) and wait for Ser Gilmore to tell you about the teyrn (rather than attempting to initiate conversation yourself).

From the wiki, I beleive this is the bug you are describing.
