Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Best class for a first timer?
So i started playing DA: O for the first time as a Dwarf Commoner and chose Warrior (2-handed) but it felt really underwhelming, i'm considering starting over (i only just arrived at Ostagar so no biggie) as a Rogue which would also be more fitting for my character's background

(I really wanna play as a Dwarf so mage & archer is outta the question)

I think you're instincts of playing a rouge would be correct. I usually favor that class in D&D types games.

I like Arcane Warriors as a first time personally (they arent nearly as complicated as people think unless you want them to be) , but if you don't want to be a mage I'd go Human Noble Rogue as a blind playthrough since it ties into the story better in my opinion.

Rogue is the best class. The have tons of survability with high dex evasion and combat stealth. They get 33% more skills points than Mage and Warrior. Rogues have the highest DPS. And at lvl 7 rogues can start summoning powerful pets via Ranger specialization. Pets tank for you and add even more dps and crowd control. Rogues are the best class for trapmaking and poisonmaking and persuasion. Oh and they're only class that can picklock -.-

rouque is good mainly for dps and picklocking if u play first time ,its worthy to try other classes later though :)mage is relatively easy also if u choose ur paths wisely.

They all have their benefits. What kind of style do you usually like to play?

Dwarf Noble is a great origin, particularly if you go Warrior.

Human Noble if you plan on making any... large... moves in the late game. Particularly if you pick female.

2hander warriors are kinda hard if you dunno game well ,you need be really good in using ur companions if u play this class ,and you can have problems in parts where you do not have companions at your side.

Considering you have to unlock the specialization, I don't know that it is amazing first time...

Start one of the DLC (Awakening let's you buy all the books within the first twenty minutes) and unlock it there.

Alternatively, go to the forest first and unlock it normally.
