Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Modding in 2022
Hello all! Played this game about 10 years ago on my 360, and was thinking about playing it again on the PC.

I know there's a pinned modded thread, but most of the mods seem to be out of date and/or no longer work in 2022, and that's the same story for the mod guides.

I'm just looking for some mods to enhance the running of the game, improve the graphics and gameplay, and add quality of life. Noting earth shattering.

Any suggestions and where to get them?

Nexus since some of them are still working. Mostly I am there for the witcher armor and DA2 armors. But there are like things for gameplay like consoles, creating storage spaces, giving unique weapons, skills and spells. Some of them are outdated though

Just did a playthrough this year with these mods (and more) so I know they still work if installed correctly.

Winter forge is a great mod and never had any issues for me.
Thank you all! How hard it is to add these mods to the Steam version? Can I just go to the links and apply them?

Well some of the you would need to extract in your override folder ( in the description there should be instructions)

Others though that are .dazip format you would need to use the daupdater which is found in the game folder
This is perfect! This is exactly what I was looking for, as I was having the same issue as the OP.

I am not familiar at all with modding. Are there any 2022 videos on YouTube that can easily demonstrate how to, for instance:

"Use daupdater.exe (found in your Dragon Age installation's bin_ship directory) to install the accompanying .DAZIP file as an addon (viewable and toggle-able from the Downloadable Content menu option). Please be sure to *actually extract* the .dazip from the .zip the mod comes in before trying to drop it into daupdater.exe."

I am just afraid of doing something wrong and totally destroying the game >_<

Also, these mods can be applied and will affect current saves, correct? I just want something to improve the graphics

I don't know if there are videos. But go find the daupdater.exe it's talking about and open it. After that, download the mod you want and open the compressed folder and find the file with the extension ".dazip". Drag and drop that file into the daupdater. Then select it, then click install. When it's done it'll say so, but the progress bars just sit there filled up so it's kind of weird. But you're good when it reaches the end. Close the updater if you're done and launch the game. That's for the .dazip files.
Well. I downloaded and installed a few mods, nothing crazy (lock bash, no helmet, etc...) and now my game randomly crashes. After it crashes, I cannot even start the game up again (it just briefly appears on the screen and goes away again) without restarting my PC. I should have just left the game as it was...

Try this. I doubt it'll help, but you never know:

I was the having same problem, as every time I used my LAA(large address aware) app that I have used for other games, this just crashed. I found the problem reading some forums, and found that origin and steam changed the .exe so you cant use a LAA app to make the .exe use more than 2gig of vram.
fortunately there is a mod with a compatible .exe. been using fow a while now so far no more crashes, but I got some weird textures under campfires. here is a giude that is updated to 2022.

Here is the .exe mod directly https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/5368
I appreciate the help everyone. I will just play the game the way the developers "intended."

I turned off the no helmet mod, force started the game, and now all of my characters' helmets are gone :-\

It is too much of a hassle. It is extremely annoying to go through all of the dialogue with characters, only to have the game randomly shut down and do everything all over again.

Yet another modding experience that has not been very positive for me, unfortunately.

Well, this game has memory problem. You'll have to save often and restart the game every couple hours.
is there a mod that rids the game of gay characters?
that i would donate heavily for.
That would actually be a good game!

Look, I'm as anti-sjw as the next guy, but that's all I've seen from you. It's kind of old. Go write Bioware emails instead of the Steam forum where no one can do anything.

It seems this thread is over, but there's a tool called "wabbajack" where there is a modlist or two which will do everything for you. They might not have the exact mods you want, but at least it's easy, stable, and updated.
