Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Is dragon age origins - Awakening dlc?
When i go play the game it asks me if i should play origins or awakening. DO i play origins first then awakening or is awakening the version of the base game with all the dlc?

Its an expansion that takes place after the events of the main game. So definately play origins first.

As the others have noted, the events in Awakening take place following the events in Origins. When starting Awakenings you begin with a new character or import your Warden from Origins with most of his equipment and gold - assuming he/she survived the death of the Archdemon, of course.

Untrue - you can import the Origins Warden to Awakening regardless of what happens. Admittedly I'm not sure how that affects the timeline of decisions.

Dude, what the actual F why do you spoil one of the potential endings of origins to a newcomer?

You only learn That someone has to die (not counting ritual) just before the end of the game

You're correct though IMO that's a bug. If my character died in Origins then I should stay dead unless there was some sort of magical resurrection - which there wasn't. I suddenly just appear - say what? ;-)

Imagine what a miserable life you have to participate in threads just to spoil people and then have that attitude. ^.^ I pity you so I wont even bother with furher talking to you.

I hope you find hapiness at some point though, sincerely

I believe it is very much intentional and not a bug. Simple rationale - if you couldn't import that save into Awakening you'd be forcing people to do a whole other playthrough just so they can bring that character into Awakening.

OMG You need to chill out, mister.

I didn't actually reveal any details or plot points, and it's beyond trivial for anyone to read spoiler text anyway. You really think people don't do that????

Not really.

If you couldn't import a saved character because your Warden is dead (or for some reason you didn't wish to do so) you would start Awakening just like you started Origins; choosing your Race and Class and assigning Attribute points. Skills and Talents. It's essentially a whole new game, albeit a much shorter one than Origins.

Creating a fresh character for Awakening defaults on decisions you would have made in Origins, meaning you couldn't even carry it as being in the same timeline.

I'm not clear on your meaning. The introduction voiced by (I think) the actor who voiced Arl Eamon, fills you in on what happened since the events at the conclusion of Origins.

You begin as the new Grey Warden Captain from Orlais, but Ohgren and Wynne appear (you will be a stranger to them) plus various conversational bits that all serve to continue the Origins story.

What I mean is making a new Warden doesn't carry through your decisions from Origins, correct?
