Weird DA2 graphics issue...

I know DA2 isn't on Steam anymore but not sure where else to post this since Bioware closed their forums. I am replaying DA2 and was using DX11, max settings. It has a bug that requires you to force FXAA though, which adds some blur, so I thought I'd try the DX9 renderer instead. It looked much worse, so I decided to go back to DX11 and...

Now the DX11 enhancements don't seem to work, even though they're turned on. Anisotropic filtering definitely isn't working, and I don't think ambient occlusion is either. You can force AF through the nVidia control panel, but it doesn't look as good to me. Maybe that's in my head, but still... the in-game setting should work, and did before.

I have gone to the .ini file and made sure it says the right stuff. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Does anyone have other suggestions?

Unfortunately I don't know what might be causing the problem, but with DA2 was highly advised to play on DX9, as the DX11 was (and still is) highly problematic. Just download the High Res Pack and put textures on Very High to activate them, it should look as good other than the effects.

Regarding your problem, try clicking repair game and see what happens.

That's probably what I'll do, but it just stinks since it was working relatively well until I tried DX9. For me the lighting/shadow differences are pretty obvious.

You are right, they actually are pretty different, unfortunately it was a rough release.
