Can't ever really compare consoles and pc issues ;)
The only appreciable difference between Origins/EA and Steam are exactly what DLC is available and unlocked. Read the pinned post at the top of the discussion forum for DLC stuff.
I have https://www.koshyjohn.com/software/memclean/ running in the background, which leaves me stable enough to play for several hours except for one or two areas that are mysteriously unsable/crashy for me sometimes (but not consistently...never have figured that out). Redcliffe village is weirdly unstable for me till after the first big fight (can't imagine why, it's not like it's graphics-intensive or anything, I haven't even upgraded the graphics on this game) and sometimes Denerim area transitions get messy *shrug*. The game does get mad at me if I alt-tab out to the wiki a bunch of times though ;)
It's the exact same code exhibiting the exact same behavior, bruh. For most people the "memory leak" is ignored as just lengthy load screens which were quite noticeable on the PS3 as was the lack of damage dealt by the player character in large battles.
On the bright side, we can get that special feeling of paying to win for free by installing all of the pre-order dlc.
Try them from top to bottom (obviously only those that don't exclude the Steam version).
