combat training ----- skills--- tactics
just started - not computer person - new to games this era -what happened to days when buy game at store and install (last time had computer; now new computer) don't want to kill first option

tried to build charicter female, elf rouge, country (wanted nature and animal summining - no see later- ) did not choose combat training

now in city with humans leval 3-level up have one point left list shows archer no combat training
"can not add to skills have till leval four - can't use archer stuff till combat training"

messed with tactics- have no clue- tried to clear and now turned off? above no change

when started game ai gave two knives - using both in combat (never chose two hands in combat)- slotted swoard/ shield then bow (haven't decided)

[no understand combat was attaking on own no press button to fire {whats with rt m to shoot?} and or select skill and aim {square curser}?]

Bug?

Need to initially develop charicheter with combat training?

do you need to mess with tactical?

plan to just restart game and not push buttons I don't understand; like to mash buttons.

Sorry can't spell - cluless to all this- some games get because think its explration story driven but then can't play beacuse hve to kill sothing right off with some special move; skill; and or push 3 buttons at once

thx

Each combat talent needs corresponding level of Combat Training (under Skills).
Rogues gain a skill point at every 2 levels; warriors and mages at every 3 levels.
Read: http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Skills
Yes, you need to develop characters with Combat Training, all 4 for Warriors and Rogues. At least up to 2 for Mages (to get +Combat Mana Regen).

Don't bother with Combat Tactics skill. You should be able to set up decent Tactics with the slots gained by levels (http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Tactics_(Origins).

In regard to Tactics, set your Warden to Default Behavior (on right side) and one of the Presets (on left side) based on whether he/she is an attacker, defender, supporter, range damager, healer, etc... Read above link. And, no, you don't need to mess with them, if you don't want to, but you should adjust them to suit your play style.

For Sten/Oghren or a attacking warrior companion, set Aggressive Behavior and Scrapper Preset.
For Alistair or a tanking companion, set Default Behavior and Defender Preset.
For Morrigan or a DPS mage, set Ranged Behavior and either Damager, Debilitator, or Controller Preset.
For Leliana or a ranged companion, set Ranged Behavior and Archer Preset.
For Wynne or a healer, set Ranged Behavior and either Healer or Supporter Preset.

In DA:O, the characters auto-attack without having to manually select a target by the player, due to Behavior and Presets. This is way better and intelligent than consoles or DA2/DAI, where you have to select a target and continue to press attack button.
