Sten
has anyone ever been able to create a tanky Sten? In one of my playthroughs I tried to boost his CON and STR, equipped him with a massive armor... and he still falls quickly as a fly.
Just curious...

I used to play as a tank Warden with Alistair and I used Sten as a supporting tank/damage dealer. He can also be used as a tank but I think Alistair is still the best tank character in the game. What kind of class build are you playing?

Sten is more of a damager than tank. He goes down fast, but can cause a lot of damage.

I just boost his STR to max needed and then add willpower and some CON.

Sten needs either a good healer, or tank using Taunt at his side. Then he shines. There is little point to make him taunt enemies.

If someone does use him as a tank, then I hope they recorded it. I would link to see that game. :)

main character rogue/sin/duelist, Sten has templar knight set and CON/STR maxed out.
Ironically, even Morrigan can tank better than him...

Which other characters are you using in your party? I don't want to spoil any characters for you but there are some alternatives for tank position to replace Sten in your party.

Give Sten a two handed weapon and he will deal a lot of damage but you must take off some of the heat off him. Since you are playing as a rogue character, you should look into having at least two tank characters in your party and one healer or you can go as one healer, one tank and one damage dealer.

that party is usually composed by MC Rogue, Morrigan, Shale and Sten

Shale makes a good tank and I also really liked Shale's storyline back then. I'd say replace Sten with Alistair but you don't necessarily have to. Check out the tactics and set different tactics for Sten to stop him getting overwhelmed by enemies. Also get the Mabari dog if you can, he is also a good tank option. I believe there was a mod somewhere so that you could take the dog as an extra companion with you alongside your regular party.

Shale is awesome, but she has some scaling problem at higher levels. Tactics sux, characters often enter dumb loops or just stand still taking hits while doing nothing (A.I. is probably the biggest problem in DAO).
I installed cosmetic mods, but I don't want to add mods that make the game even easier :)

The game balance is a bit lacking, depending on the party setup you get a boringly easy experience or a nightmarish one....
