Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

Dragon Age: Origins - Ultimate Edition

"Failed To Detect Support Video Card"
Every time I've tried launching the Ultimate Edition of Dragon Age: Origins, the same error kept popping up. I've already closed every firewall and antivirus system, as well as cleared out my Download Cache. The error is still popping up. The game launched fine on my PC, but not my desktop, which is what I'm currently using. I don't know anything about coding or add-ons or whatnot, and I just want a simple solution on how to play my game. Please help.

What video card is in the one that doesn't work? Firewall and Antivirus should not affect that error at all. That sounds like the game does not support your video card or possibly outdated drivers. Maybe even a DirextX issue. Solutions are not always simple.

Post system specs for that system and I'll look through it to see if there are potential issues with the hardware or DX.

Easy way to post system specs:
1. Run dxdiag.exe
2. Click Save All Information and Save as a Text file
3. Open Text file you just saved and copy the following information in a reply.

Note: Only need System Information and Display Devices, not the whole text file. Like so....

Same problem. Haven't played in years but thought I woul give it a bash on my new laptop. I7 7700 with GTX 1060 and 16gigs of ram. Thpugh I have a feeling this my be to do with the integrated intel 6300 GPU that this laptop switches between.

This is annoying as the game started briefly but then I used the 'fix' to see my DLC as pinned at here and now I get this...

There is a way to force a game (or the system I forget which) to use the GTX1060 only, but I don't recall how off the top of my head. Research that and that may be your resolution. I know it's been the fix in Metal Gear Solid 5 for a similar issue.

Cheers for the reply. I've got it working now, and that wasn't the problem. I tried starting either the laucher or the game exe form the game folder rather than steam and that seemed to fix it, game also starts from steam now. Weird bug.

I don't know how these threads work, but if anyone still checks this, I'm also getting this error message and I don't know how to fix it!

aside from the technobabble, all i did was go into the dragon age ultimate folder and into bin_ship and run DAOriginsConfig and turn off full screen mode and it ran fine after....whenever i try to return to full screen in-game it crashes
onemoreblue Mar 14, 2018 @ 9:19am
Just got a new PC, updated all drivers, new GTX 1070 will not load this game. I have tried several fixes such as clearing the cache, trying to run windowed vs full screen, trying to launch as admin, trying different screen resolutions. Any suggestions I have missed to overcome this error?
LethargicGoblin Sep 30, 2018 @ 5:35pm
Aight, so I figured it out...sorta. The DAOriginsConfig helps, so open that ♥♥♥♥ up first (explained up there somewhere how to get to it), anyways open that up and turn off FullScreen mode, that at least, fixed my problem. Now I need to figure out how to play in fullscreen cuz this windowed mode crap aint gonna work for me. Once/If I figure it out I'll come back and post an update that worked for me, k? K.

1. Go to Steam Games\steamapps\common\Dragon Age Ultimate Edition\bin_ship
2. rename dxgi.dll to d3d11.dll
3. Done :)

Had the same issue as well running on a GTX 1060 6gb. Was really annoyed since all other games work fine and I had been playing AC Odyssey all weekend @ High settings and was running great but this old game wont?? Tried all tricks and changes to files, graphics settings, configurations, etc. Finally uninstalled, downloaded and installed latest NVIDIA PhysX software and reinstalled the game. Works fine now. Either reinstalling the game or updating PhysX did the trick.

You can force any game to take your 1060 as primary device via the nvidi tool -> 3d settings.
However it's more likely that your (not the authors) problem is from a actuall legacy physx driver.
I also have a 1060 and the new legacy-physx did not work, however the version from the pinned thread in this forum works.

So when I uninstalled my previous Phys driver it uninstalled NVIDIA GeForce Experience as well. Reinstalled it because i was having trouble connecting my Shield controller to my PC without Experience. Game Immidiately fails again. Uninstalled Geforce Experience and Game runs perfect again. Could Gefore Experience game optimization be messing with the games ability to identify the graphics card? Maybe. The game did run once with Experience installed and only today was causing issues again.
